Gilleran’s Island Band – Destin

March 11 @ 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Gilleran’s Island Band is a talented husband-wife duo, delighting audiences in the Florida Panhandle and beyond with their beautifully crafted originals, soulful harmonies and expertly curated song list. Terra Jean Otto shines on violin – deep in the groove with sweet lines, ripping riffs and even some funk chops. Mentored by fiddle great Vassar Clements, she has shared the stage with him and his Little Big Band, as well as performances with Peter Rowan (Old and in the Way). She has also performed with John Cowan (New Grass Revival), Howard Levy (Bela Fleck and the Flecktones), Leftover Salmon, and String Cheese Incident with members of the David Grisman Quintet. Her rich musical background includes a classical foundation from her famed teacher, Florizel Von Reuter, and influences from violinists Stephane Grapelli, Darol Anger, Papa John Creach, and Jean Luc Ponty.
Vocalist, guitarist and singer-songwriter John Gilleran sings his heart out in perfectly pitched, smooth baritone tones and soaring falsetto, all the while laying down a solid foundation on acoustic guitar. He studied electronics, jazz guitar, classical voice and toured Europe as the featured soloist in a madrigal group. Signed by Warner Bros. early in his career, his band included Dave Bickler (Eye of the Tiger – Survivor) and recorded the hit, Summer Sun. He is an acclaimed recording engineer, notably with projects with Taj Mahal (albums – Sacred Island (charted #5 on Billboard Blues albums), Hanapepe Blues, Taj tracks on Six Days and Seven Nights and Zebrahead.)  He designed and produced the award winning Giltronics pure vacuum tube mic pre and line mastering amps, used on the Grammy winning album Just Like You – Keb Mo and Grammy nominated albums Deuces Wild – B.B. King (charted #1 on Billboard’s Blues Albums) and Phantom Blues – Taj Mahal. His amps are still in use today in every mastering lab of Diskmakers, and many fine studios including Wolf Mastering in Nashville (and in his own studio as well!).Described as Americana Soul Pop, Gilleran‘s Island Band’s energetic show will take you on a journey through many musical styles and is sure to put a smile on your face, a zip in your step and maybe a tear in your eye!
