Mike O’Donnell, founding member of the Wilmington, NC based band, Poor No More, has been a performing singer/songwriter for over 20 years. Originally from Hanson, Massachusetts, he moved to North Carolina in 1992 to attend East Carolina University where he graduated receiving a degree in Communications with a concentration in media production. After working in local radio stations (News/Talk 980AM WAAV, Star 105 and Q92) for 6 years, he started his own company, O’Zone Entertainment, Inc. and has served both North and South Carolina for the past 10 years. “Writing and playing music has always been my passion. I see myself doing this until the day I die.” Having written close to 150 songs and continuously working up new ones is what “keeps the ideas flowing and the music evolving.” In addition to the original material, Mike knows about 700 cover songs covering many genres. With the band, they worked a bunch of their original songs into the mix and opened for Chicago at Alltell Pavilion in June of 2001. The band has also thrilled audiences with their tributes to the Grateful Dead and the Beatles. On his own, Mike has opened for Rusted Root front man, Michael Glabicki on his 2006 tour and in 2007 for Brooks & Dunn, Alan Jackson and the Blue Dogs. In 2008, he opened for Morrison Hotel, a Doors tribute band.
